Arsenal academy product of Nigerian descent training with Man Utd ahead of potential move
Published: August 06, 2021
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Nigerian-born defender Joseph Olowu is training with Premier League giants Manchester United with a view to a potential transfer this month.
Red Devils U23 manager Neil Wood will monitor him at close quarters when his side face National League North club Kidderminster Harriers in their final pre-season game on Friday night.
Olowu is on the lookout for a new employer after he was surprisingly released by Arsenal when he came off contract with the north London club on June 30.
The 21-year-old has been named in the starting lineup against Kidderminster Harriers and has been deployed as a central defender.
A former Arsenal U18 captain, Olowu is also comfortable playing as a right-back.
He was given a taste of first team football during loan spells at Cork City and Wealdstone, appearing 29 times for both teams and scored his first senior goal against Derry City in August 2020.
Should Olowu be offered a contract, he would link up with Dillon Hoogewerf and Shola Shoretire at Manchester United.
