Brentford's Oyegoke plays against Eagles first team stars Benteke, Clyne, Gallagher in friendly
Published: August 11, 2021
Anglo-Nigerian fullback Daniel Oyegoke is preparing himself for what lies ahead after impressing for Brentford B in a pre-season friendly against a Crystal Palace XI on Tuesday.
The Eagles squad contained several first team stars including Christian Benteke, Jack Butland, Nathaniel Clyne, Martin Kelly and Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher.
Last month, Oyegoke, an England underage international, joined the Bees on a
three-year contract, with a club option of a further year, after turning
down a new deal at Arsenal.
The 18-year-old defender stands out for his ability to get forward and create chances for his teammates.
Belgium national teamer Benteke fired past Matthew Cox in the Brentford goal to open the scoring for the Eagles in the first half but the Bees equalised through Steven's second half header.
Highly-rated young Nigerian striker David Omilabu played the last fourteen minutes for Palace, replacing Banks.
The Crystal Palace U18 Player of the Season for 2020-2021 came close to grabbing the winner when he was denied by the goalkeeper from a tight angle.
Omilabu and Oyegoke are homegrown players and are both eligible to be registered for the Premier League as U21 players.
