Former Super Eagles defender Sam Sodje donates boots, cash to Delta Queens
Published: August 12, 2021
Retired Nigeria international Sam Sodje has donated boots and an unspecified amount of cash to Nigeria Women Premier League club Delta Queens FC, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The former Brentford and Charlton Athletic defender is currently the Head of Technical/Youth Development at the Delta State Football Association (DFA), but the donation was made in his personal capacity.
Other items like female sanitary towels were donated to Delta Queens as part of his support to female football in the state and giving back to the society.
Sodje presented the players with the items at their camp in Agbor, Delta State, with the coach and the Chairman of Delta Queens in attendance on Thursday morning.
Born in London, he followed in the footsteps of his elder brother Efe Sodje by opting to represent Nigeria, where his parents hail from, at international level.
One of his best performances for the three-time African champions was against France in a pre-World Cup friendly in June 2009 when he prevented Karim Benzema, Nicolas Anelka and Franck Ribéry from scoring.
