Tottenham Hotspur boss runs the rule over 2021 Super Eagles invitee pre-Crystal Palace
Published: September 09, 2021Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno Espírito Santo is running the rule over 2021 Super Eagles invitee Joshua Oluwayemi ahead of his side's London derby against Michael Olise's Crystal Palace this weekend.
According to the latest training images published by the official website of Tottenham Hotspur, the former England U16 international goalkeeper trained with the first team this week.
The Portuguese football tactician has called up some exciting development squad players, including former Arsenal defender Tobi Omole, to train with the senior team with many players away on international duty with their respective countries.
This isn't the first time Oluwayemi has been called up to train with Spurs' first team as he also worked out with the squad during pre-season preparations but was not given minutes in any of the friendlies.
Former coach Jose Mourinho promoted Oluwayemi to
first-team training at the business end of last season as the north
London club were short on personnel in the goalkeeping department after
Alfie Whiteman underwent surgery to repair his meniscus.
Born in 2001, Oluwayemi will count as an U21 player in Spurs' Premier League squad this season as well as next season.
He has gone the distance in all the matches played by Tottenham's development squad in the new season, four in total, and conceded nine goals including three against League Two opposition Stevenage in the EFL Trophy.
