Allnigeriasoccer.com's round-up of the UEFA Champions League matches involving Nigeria-eligible players on Tuesday, September 14.
At the Eleda Stadion, Nigeria international Innocent Bonke got his group stage debut as Malmo suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Juventus, the Italians' first clean sheet since March.
The holding midfielder was handed a start after passing a late fitness test. Previously, Bonke had been rated as doubtful after picking up an injury during Malmo's Allsvenskan match against IFK Norrköping last weekend.
Malmo were no longer in the contest at half-time as they were trailing 3-0 with Alex Sandro, Dybala and Morata getting on the scoresheet for Juventus.
Bonke was replaced with fifteen minutes remaining. Malmo are in Russia to face Zenit St. Petersburg in their next Champions League fixture on September 29.
At Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, Salzburg opened their Group G campaign with a 1-1 draw against Sevilla.
Ivan Rakitic cancelled out Luka Sucic's opener with both goals coming from the spot in the first half.
Kano-born striker Chukwubuike Adamu was rewarded with his man-of-the-match performance at the weekend after manager Matthias Jaissle handed him his debut in the group stage off the bench in the 67th minute.
In Group F, Villarreal, without Samuel Chukwueze who is still on the mend, were unable to pull off a win against Atalanta at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
It finished 2-2 with goals from Trigueros and Arnaut Danjuma cancelled out by Freuler and Robin Gosens.
