Arsenal insider not ruling out the possibility of Balogun leaving on loan in January
Published: September 27, 2021
Football.London's chief Arsenal reporter Chris Wheatley has not ruled out the possibility of Folarin Balogun being loaned out in the January transfer window.
The Anglo-Nigerian ended speculation about his future by inking a fresh-four year deal in April and was promoted to the first team on a permanent basis before the start of this season.
However, he has struggled for game time, so much so that he has dropped down to the U23s in order to get match practice, starting three matches in a row against Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City in the Premier League 2.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli are ahead of the England U21 international in manager Mikel Arteta's pecking order of attackers at the Emirates Stadium.
In a question and answer session with Arsenal fans, Wheatley was quizzed if there's a chance of Balogun getting loaned in January seeing that he's not getting any time with the first team.
He replied : "I don't believe any decision has been made yet but there is always the possibility. We'll have to wait and see. "
Arteta has only started
Balogun once this season, against Brentford on the opening night of the
Premier League season and he hasn't been called up for the last four games.
