'Exciting players' - Nigerian-born ex-Man City star waxes lyrical about two Arsenal youngsters
Published: September 30, 2021
Nigerian-born former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha has been left impressed by the impact Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka have made in the new season.
Onuoha noted that the two Hale End Academy graduates have demonstrated positional awareness despite their young ages.
Saka and Smith Rowe assisted each other to score either side of a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang strike as Arsenal thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 in the Premier League last weekend.
Onuoha revealed that Saka and Smith Rowe are a vital part of Arsenal's attack and can help Aubameyang flourish more.
Speaking on Premier League Productions' The Kelly and Wrighty Show, Onuoha stated : "Aubameyang is the final piece of the puzzle as far as the game goes. I think most strikers will have a few touches in a game so they don't set the tone but they can deliver the message.
"Smith Rowe and Saka are really exciting players and as they do something great maybe on a 1v1, when you see Aubameyang running down through the side or making the right run, these are players who can make the pass and also get in the box as well.
"For Smith Rowe's goal, for Saka when he ended up scoring as well, they can do nice things a long way from positions which actually make a difference."
