'He unsettled Maguire' - Former Fox hails Iheanacho for first half display vs Man Utd
Published: October 18, 2021
Former Leicester City defender Gerry Taggart believes Kelechi Iheanacho was the best player for the Foxes during the first half of their 4-2 win over Manchester United on Saturday afternoon.
Brendan Rodgers' team won a league game for the first time since August courtesy of goals from Youri Tielemans, Cağlar Söyüncü, Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka.
Manchester United center-back Harry Maguire endured a difficult day on his return from injury and Leicester City, with Iheanacho causing him all sorts of problem, and was at fault for the first goal conceded by the Red Devils.
Youri Tielemans made it 1-1 when he curled the ball over De Gea and into the top
corner after a stumble by Maguire not reacting to Iheanacho in the build-up to the goal.
With a little under a quarter of an hour left, Iheanacho, who started the recent back-to-back 2022 World Cup
qualifiers against Central African Republic, made way for Patson Daka
due to fatigue.
In quotes relayed by Leicester City's official website, Taggart said : "It was a fabulous game of football. I thought Leicester were excellent from the word go and particularly [Kelechi] Iheanacho in the first half, he just unsettled Harry Maguire.
"Obviously [Jamie] Vardy was working on [Victor] Lindelöf on the other side and they just couldn’t cope.

"They go in at 1-1 after Manchester United take the lead but it was fairly even in the second half."
The in-form Iheanacho has either scored or assisted in each of his last four matches for Leicester City.
