Aina makes first appearance in 109 days for Torino in goalless draw vs Milan
Published: April 12, 2022
Ola Aina made his first appearance for Torino in 2022 as they were held to a goalless draw by table toppers AC Milan on Sunday, April 10.
The Nigeria international played his first match in one hundred and nine days for the Maroons when he came off the bench to replace Stephane Singo with twenty seven minutes remaining.
Before the visit of Milan to Turin, the versatile fullback last tasted action against Inter Milan on December 22, 2021.
Aina lost his spot in Torino's starting lineup following his return to the club late January after international duty with the Super Eagles at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Despite being frozen out of the Torino squad, he was named in the Super Eagles for the March internationals and lasted the distance in the back-to-back 2022 World Cup playoff versus Ghana.
Against a Milan side with his former Chelsea teammate Fikayo Tomori in the lineup, Aina helped Torino celebrate their third shutout in five matches, and against one of the big boys in the Italian top-flight.
Aina will enter the final twelve months of his contract with Torino on July 1.
