Birmingham City retain interest in signing Nigeria international striker
Published: April 27, 2022
Championship club Birmingham City have reportedly not given up their pursuit of Nigeria international Josh Maja.
Birmingham Live says The Blues are set to rekindle their interest in the Bordeaux-owned player after missing out on his signature in the January transfer window.
Maja is currently on loan at Stoke City, where he's scored two goals and registered three assists in seventeen matches.
Stoke City negotiated an option to buy in the loan deal bringing Maja to the Potters on transfer deadline day in January 2022 and it remains to be seen if the clause will be triggered at the end of the season.
The Super Eagle joined Stoke City in search of regular playing time which he would not have had if he had remained at Bordeaux, having logged only 45 minutes spread across four matches before heading to England.
Maja will enter the final one year of his contract at Bordeaux in July and the Ligue 1 club have a decision to make whether to offer him a new deal or move on the striker if he is not signed on a permanent basis by Stoke City.
