England boss Southgate watches Super Eagles target sparkle for Crystal Palace vs Everton
Published: May 20, 2022
England manager Gareth Southgate was among the spectators at Goodison Park on Thursday night as Crystal Palace threw away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 to Everton, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
A product of the Crystal Palace Academy, Southgate is expected to announce his roster for the June internationals against Hungary, Germany and Italy in the coming days.
Southgate monitored at close quarters England stars Nick Pope, Jordan Pickford, Tyrick Mitchell, Marc Guéhi, Conor Gallagher, Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The Three Lions boss also checked on Nigeria Football Federation Eberechi Eze who was in action for the entire duration of the game and the number 10 did not disappoint, setting up the opening goal netted by the Eagles.
Jean-Philippe Mateta lost his man to head Eze's beautiful free-kick in the 21st minute.
The 2017 Super Eagles invitee will be hoping to earn his first England invite after a strong finish to the season
Eze would become cap-tied to England, where he was born, should he earn a call-up and is given minutes in one of the four UEFA Nations League matches next month.
A member of England's squad to the 2021 U21 EURO, the Anglo-Nigerian attacking midfielder also has caps for the Young Lions at U20 level.
