Everton set to sign Sporting CP left-back amid link with Porto's Super Eagles star
Published: July 27, 2022It appears English Premier League side Everton will not be pursuing a deal for Nigeria international Zaidu Sanusi this summer, if latest reports are anything to go by.
Portuguese sports daily Record reported last month that the Toffees were one of the English top flight clubs interested in the Porto defender, with Fulham, Brighton & Hove and Crystal Palace also credited with an interest.
Italian transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Sporting Lisbon and Everton have reached a club-to-club agreement for the transfer of left-back Ruben Vinagre.
Vinagre will be joining the Goodison Park outfit on loan with a purchase clause included in the deal.

Everton will pay full salary [around €800k] until June 2023.
Logically, the imminent arrival of the Portuguese will put an end to speculation linking Sanusi with a transfer to Everton as they play in similar positions.
In a recent interview with allnigeriasoccer.com, the Super Eagles defender insisted that he is unaware of interest from Premier League clubs but refused to totally rule out a departure from Porto before the close of the summer transfer window.
Sanusi has three years left on his contract with the Portuguese champions and has a release clause of fifty million euros.
