Spanish-Nigerian striker helps Manchester United beat Rangers in SuperCupNI Junior final
Published: July 29, 2022
Manchester United U16s have won the 2022 STATSports SuperCupNI Junior title after beating Scottish side Rangers 2-0 in the final game played at the Ballymena Showgrounds.
Spanish youth international of Nigerian descent Victor Musa was on parade for the Red Devils from the start of the game.
Manchester United won their first two games of the tournament, beating Surf Select and Co Fermanagh, before they were held to a 3-3 draw by MK Dons.
Musa scored one of the fastest goals of the competition, heading home a corner kick after 35 seconds as United defeated Co Tyrone at the Coleraine Showgrounds on Thursday to book their place in the final.
In today's showpiece, Shea Lacey earned Manchester United a penalty before dusting himself down and converted from the spot to give the English team the lead in the 19th minute.
The game swung further in favour of the Red Devils in the 26th minute when Harrison Parker headed in a corner to put his side 2-0 up.
Seven minutes to the end of the game, Rangers goalkeeper prevented Musa from increasing the lead as he saved the striker's effort with his legs.
