Cardiff City win race to sign Tottenham striker of Nigerian descent for transfer fee of N254m

Cardiff City have reportedly beaten a plethora of English Football League clubs to the signature of Tottenham Hotspur striker of Nigerian descent Kion Etete.

TalkSPORT football correspondent Alex Crook says Etete will have a medical on Wednesday ahead of completing his move to the Bluebirds.

Cardiff City and Tottenham have reached a club-to-club agreement for the transfer of the talented 20-year-old

The initial transfer fee for the player is 500,000 pounds (approximately N254 million in Nigerian currency) plus performance-related add-ons.

Per the report, Tottenham Hotspur rate Etete highly and have insisted on inserting a buyback clause into the deal taking him to Cardiff City.

The Derby-born attacker was farmed out on loan to two Football League clubs in 2021-2022, starting the campaign at Northampton Town before finishing the season at Cheltenham Town.

Overall, Etete has recorded 35 appearances in the Football League, scoring six goals and registering four assists.

He is set to become the third player of Nigerian descent to join Cardiff City in the summer transfer window, after Super Eagles defender Jamilu Collins and 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup winner Sheyi Ojo.
