Official : Box-to-box midfielder signs new contract with Chelsea
Published: August 20, 2022Through a statement on their official website, Premier League side Chelsea have announced that talented box-to-box midfielder Leo Castledine has signed a new deal with the club.
Castledine, who is 17 years old today, celebrates his birthday by putting pen to paper on his first professional contract with Chelsea.
An England youth international who has caps for the Young Lions at U15, U16 and U17 levels, he joined Chelsea at U15 level from AFC Wimbledon.
Last season, Castledine made appearances for the Blues in the UEFA Youth League, U18 Premier League and FA Youth Cup, scoring ten goals in thirty-two games.
He was in the same scholarship intake as Nigeria-eligible trio Tudor Mendel-Idowu, Richard Olise and Louis Flower.
The midfielder captained Chelsea U18 squad several times last season and netted the winning goal as the Blues U18s defeated London neighbors Arsenal on the opening day of the 2022-2023 campaign.
