Official : Super Falcons attacking midfielder joins AS Saint-Etienne
Published: August 21, 2022French Feminine Division 2 club AS Saint-Etienne have completed the signing of Nigeria international Joy Bokiri.
The length and financial terms of the contract signed by the attacking midfielder have not been disclosed by the French second tier club.
The 23-year-old has played for European clubs in the past, having worn the colours of Sporting de Huelva in Spain (2018), Elpides Karditsas in Greece (2018-2019), Konak Belediyespor in Turkey (2019-2020) then Damallsvenskan outfit AIK in Sweden (2021).
Before moving to Europe, Bokiri turned out for Bayelsa Queens in her homeland.
Speaking after putting pen to paper, Bokiri said to AS Saint-Etienne's official webpage : "I am very proud to join AS Saint-Étienne, and also excited to discover the French league.
"I want to settle in quickly so that I can say that Saint-Étienne is my new home."
Bokiri was a member of Nigeria's squads to the 2012 and 2014 FIFA U17 Women's World Cups and 2016 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup, scoring three goals in total in the tournaments.
The Super Falcon, who is AS Saint-Etienne's ninth recruit in the offseason, has been allocated the number 8 jersey.
