'He's getting better and better' - Crystal Palace manager Vieira praises Nigeria target
Published: August 22, 2022
Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira singled out Eberechi Eze for special praise after the Nigeria Football Federation target inspired the Eagles to a 3-1 win over Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa in a Premier League game on Saturday, August 20.
The former Super Eagles invitee was sparingly used last season, making only six starts in the Premier League, because his minutes were being managed after recovering from a serious injury that required surgery.
After a banner 2020-2021 campaign, the long-term injury didn't allow him to shine for the large part of last season when he returned to action.
Vieira has admitted that Eze is reaching his top form and reckons that his performance against Aston Villa was his best in a Crystal Palace shirt since his return to action last November.
"Ebs is getting better and better. When the team play like that it allows him to show his quality," Vieira said to Crystal Palace's official website.
"He loves the game, is a football player and loves to have the ball at his feet.
"Today it’s his best performance since he came back."
Eze has started all the games played by the Eagles in the Premier League so far this season, three in total, and bagged a crucial assist in a 1-1 draw with Liverpool a week ago.
