Forest defeated Grimsby Town 3-0 to advance to the next round of the competition.
The Super Eagles forward moved to the promoted Premier League side for from Championship outfit Watford ten days ago.
Dennis assisted Forest's first goal in the 18th minute scored by English youngster Ryan Yates.
He delivered a good cross in from the right wing and Yate's left-footed volley found the top corner.
Samuel Surridge scored the second and third goals for Forest.
In the 62nd minute Dennis showed excellent footwork down the left flank before cutting inside and shooting just wide.
Taiwo Awoniyi started from the bench and came on 15 minutes to full time in place of compatriot Dennis who had a very impressive match.
Liverpool are the 2022 champions of the EFL Cup otherwise called the Carabao Cup following their 11-10 win on penalties over Chelsea last February.
