Teenage Nigerian defender Odel Offiah made his season debut for Brighton & Hove as they progressed to the next round of the Carabao Cup following a 3-0 rout of League One side Forest Green Rovers at The Bolt New Lawn on Wednesday night.
Offiah has fond memories of the Carabao Cup, having made his professional debut against Cardiff City in the second round of the competition during the 2021-2022 season before making the bench against Swansea City and Leicester City in the third and fourth rounds respectively.
Sporting the number 42 at the back of his jersey, he hopped off the bench to replace Undav with twenty five minutes left on the clock - his first squad involvement since the final day of last season.
Offiah has switched shirt numbers from the number 57 he wore in 2021-2022.
The player Offiah replaced Deniz Undav opened the scoring for the Seagulls in the 38th minute, Steven Alzate doubled the advantage in the first minute of first half stoppage time and a late goal from Evan Ferguson sealed the win.
Graham Potter's side have been paired with Arsenal in the third round of the Carabao Cup with the game taking place at the Emirates Stadium in London in November.
