Southampton 0 Manchester United 1 : David de Gea denies Aribo with fantastic save
Published: August 27, 2022
Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo was in action for 88 minutes in Southampton's 1-0 home defeat against Manchester United at the St. Mary's Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Saints have this lost their second league game out of four this season.
They were defeated 4-1 by Tottenham Hotspur on the first weekend of the season. The team drew 2-2 with Leeds before last weekend's 2-1 away win over Leicester City.
United's goal came in the 55th minute when Bruno Fernandes finished off a brilliant team goal after Diogo Dalot delivered a tantalizing cross to the edge of the box.
Aribo has evidently settled into the Premier League as he produced an encouraging performance against the Red Devils. He has played all four games for his team.
The battle between him and Scott Mctominay was one of the highlights of the match.
The former Rangers man was close to getting an equaliser for his team when he found space in the box to head towards goal but United goalie David de Gea made a brilliant save to deny the Nigerian in the 66th minute.
The Southampton number 7 was substituted off by Brazilian defender Lyanco.
