Chelsea defender of Ghanaian descent close to returning to Italian Serie A

Serie A club Spezia Calcio are close to signing Wales international of Ghanaian descent Ethan Ampadu on a season-long loan.

 

Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano revealed that both clubs and the player have agreed to make the deal happen.

 

The deal however has a clause that allows the Serie A club to buy the Welshman at the end of his loan spell for the sum of €15 million.

 

The 21-year-old will take a medical examination at Spezia's facility early this week.

 

 

Chelsea on the other hand have agreed a deal to sign Wesley Fofana from Leicester City for €75 million.

 

Ampadu, who graduated from the renowned Chelsea Academy, makes a return to Serie A having spent the 2021/2022 season on loan at Venezia.

 

The Welsh international made 30 appearances last term for the relegated club.

 

Ampadu was born in Exter, United Kingdom to a Ghanaian father and a Welsh mother.

 

He however chose to represent the Dragons of Wales on the international scene ahead of Ghana and England.
