'I'd take Eze at Liverpool' - Ex-Reds defender hails impact of 2017 Super Eagles invitee
Published: August 30, 2022Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock has hailed the impact of 2017 Super Eagles invitee Eberechi Eze in Crystal Palace's games and admitted that the Nigeria-eligible creative player is suited for the kind of football at Liverpool.
Eze who provided an assist in Palace's 4-2 defeat to Manchester City last weekend has been impressing lots of league watchers.
Warnock who was a onetime left back for Liverpool is now a television pundit and expressed his opinions on the Eagles.
"You would have turned off the TV rather than watch Palace a couple of years ago. Now (Patrick) Vieira has got them playing such entertaining football," Warnock said on BBC Radio 5 Live ahead of the kickoff in the ongoing London derby between Crystal Palace and Brentford.
"(Ebere) Eze is scintillating. I told Mark Lawrenson, I would take him at Liverpool," Warnock enthused.
Speaking further, the former England international says what he feels has helped manager Patrick Vieira shape a good side.
"What Vieira did by going to America in his coaching career is it allowed him to learn, to make mistakes. He got that opportunity, and now we are seeing the rewards," Warnock reiterated.
Eze, 24, joined Crystal Palace in the summer of 2020 from Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers
