Dire is the younger brother of the popular Watford striker Dapo Mebude, who met with the Nigerian Federation president Amaju Pinnick when he visited England last summer.
The younger Mebude joined Manchester City in 2020, having progressed through the academy ranks at Glasgow Rangers.
Dire put himself in the shop window after an outstanding season with Manchester City U18s, helping them win the U18 Premier League national title.
The skillful winger was named Manchester City's U18 Players Player of the Year for the 2021-2022 season on the back of scoring 11 goals as well as contributing eighteen assists.
