PL 2 : Arsenal striker Butler-Oyedeji continues rich vein of form with another goal
Published: September 04, 2022
Anglo-Nigerian striker Nathan Butler-Oyedeji continued his rich vein of form with another goal for Arsenal's development squad as they defeated Blackburn Rovers 4-1 in a Premier League 2 fixture at Meadow Park, Boreham Wood on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners U21s have followed in the footsteps of the first team by remaining unbeaten in their opening five league matches.
In addition, they defeated Swansea City and Cambridge United in the Premier League Cup and Papa John's Trophy respectively.
Joining Butler-Oyedeji in the starting lineup were two other players of Nigerian descent in the shape of central defender Zach Awe and attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri.
Butler-Oyedeji finished off a brilliant team move involving Nwaneri and Charles Sagoe Jr to double the advantage in the nineteenth minute.
Arsenal's other scorers were Cozier-Duberry, Sagoe Jr and Jack Henry-Francis, while Harrison Wood pulled one back for the visitors.
With his strike against Blackburn Rovers, Butler-Oyedeji has taken his tally to four goals in all competitions in the new season.
Nwaneri, who made his competitive debut for Arsenal U21s, was replaced by Dutch-born Nigerian winger Joel Ideho in the 58th minute and Awe subbed out at minute 86.
