'It's a brilliant ball across' - Liverpool icon reacts to Iheanacho's goal for Leicester v Brighton

Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho was on target for Leicester City on Sunday in the Foxes' 5-2 away defeat against Brighton & Hove at The American Express Community Stadium within the first minute of action.

Zambia striker Patson Daka who formed a partnership upfront with the Nigerian grabbed the second goal for Brendan Rodgers who decided to keep veteran Jamie Vardy on the bench.

The game was Iheanacho's first start of the season for the away side as he had always come off the bench for his team in previous games in the new season.

Liverpool legend Michael Owen on punditry duties for the Premier League world feed expressed his thoughts on Iheanacho's effort.

"That is what Brendan Rodgers would have wanted with his team," Owen who was best remembered by English fans for his 1998 World Cup against Argentina told presenter Steve Bowyer.

"The slight question of whether it was a foul in the buildup from Tielemans - once he brushes his man off - Leicester really counter-attacked quite quickly.

"I think it's probably okay. We're having a higher bar in the Premier League this season. I think it'd probably alright. After that, it's a brilliant ball across.

"I just wonder in this situation (in reference to the playback on the big screen) whether Brighton could have flipped that ball out off two players.

"I'm sure they would done that and laid the ball off onto the attack. But as it is, they don't."

Owen spoke on the thought process behind the decision of Patson Daka to find Iheanacho and not English forward Harvey Barnes inside the box.

"Adam Webster had a problem at the back post with Iheanacho. He sees Harvey Barnes I think it is and decided that's more dangeroues and leaves Iheanacho at the back post who taps in so I think they (Brighton) need to be braver than that in possession," Owen stressed.

Leicester remains bottom of the table with a solitary point. Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi who had to be deployed in central defence was at fault for the fourth goal as he committed a foul inside the box which gifted the Seagulls a penalty converted by Alexis Mac Allister
