Tottenham loanee, Super Eagles star help Udinese equal Barcelona's winning streak 22-23
Published: October 04, 2022Two Nigerian-origin players in Tottenham Hotspur loanee Destiny Udogie and Super Eagles striker Isaac Success helped Udinese join La Liga giants Barcelona as the teams with the longest winning streak in Europe's top five leagues.
The Bianconeri registered an impressive 2-1 road win against Hellas Verona at the Marcantonio Bentegodi on Monday night with Udogie and Success making the starting lineup.
Like they did in their two previous matches against Sassuolo and Inter Milan, Udinese fell behind as Josh Doig with a beautiful strike opened the scoring for the home team midway through the first half.
Udinese had the equaliser in the 70th minute as Beto, the substitute who replaced Success, netted his fifth of the season after another piece of magic from Gerard Deulofeu - his sixth assist of the season.
For the fourth time this season, Udinese won a game after falling behind. Lazar Samardzic's cross towards the back post was headed into the net by Jaka Bijol in the third minute of stoppage time.
According to the statisticians at Whoscored,Udinese's current six-game winning streak can only be matched by Barcelona in Europe's top 5 leagues
Success and Udogie were involved in the six matches played by Udinese, against Monza, Fioretina, AS Roma, Sassuolo, Inter and Hellas Verona.
Barcelona have won six games in a row against Real Sociedad, Real Valladolid, Sevilla, Cadiz, Elche and RCD Mallorca.
