The reason Anglo-Polish-Nigerian CM was sent home ahead of Man Utd's friendly with Real Betis

Anglo-Polish-Nigerian central midfielder Maxi Oyedele was one of the three Manchester United youngsters sent home before Manchester United's mid-season friendly against La Liga side Real Betis on Saturday, but it was for a good reason.

Manager Erik ten Hag could not count on the services of the Poland youth international in the 1-0 loss to Real Betis, the Premier League's final friendly on Spanish soil.

According to Manchester Evening News, Oyedele missed the match because he returned to the United Kingdom ahead of Manchester United's FA Youth Cup third round clash against Crystal Palace.

The other two teenagers sent home are Dan Gore and Tyler Fredricson, while FA Youth Cup-eligible players in Kobbie Mainoo and Sam Murray remained with the squad.

Oyedele was given minutes in every single game contested by Manchester United in last season's FA Youth Cup.

After helping the Red Devils win the competition, he was rewarded with his first professional contract in May 2022.

Promising striker Victor Musa and exciting fullback Habeeb Ogunneye are the other Manchester United players of Nigerian descent age eligible for this season's FA Youth Cup.
