Report : Manchester United likelier to sign 'another Ighalo' as Ronaldo's replacement
Published: December 18, 2022Premier League giants Manchester United are reportedly likelier to sign 'another Odion Ighalo' in the January transfer window.
The Red Devils are in the market for a center forward as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo who left the club by mutual agreement a month ago after an explosive interview with Piers Morgan.
According to The Mirror, via Express, Manchester United are likelier to sign another Odion Ighalo rather than pay out on a permanent deal for a new striker as they hunt a replacement for Ronaldo.
United have been linked with possible moves for PSV Eindhoven's Netherlands World Cup star Cody Gakpo, Napoli frontman Victor Osimhen, Borussia Dortmund's Youssoufa Moukoko, Juventus' Dusan Vlahovic and Benfica's Goncalo Ramos but a deal would be difficult to pull off next month.
United are now considering signing a striker on loan instead of a permanent transfer - a similar deal to when they signed Ighalo from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua in January 2020.
Ighalo wasn't Manchester United's top target but landed at Old Trafford after they failed in their attempt to snap up Joshua King.
The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Golden Boot winner scored five goals in 23 appearances for Manchester United.
