'We smashed the transfer record' - Nigerian agent exclaims as Chelsea complete Fofana signing
Published: January 07, 2023Through their official website, Chelsea announced on Saturday that the transfer of David Datro Fofana from Norwegian champions Molde has been finalized.
Fofana, an Ivory Coast international, has signed a contract until 2029 with an option to extend for a further year.
The deal taking the striker to Chelsea was brokered by Oslo-based Nigerian agent Atta Aneke, who also handles the affairs of Super Eagles players Odion Ighalo, Chidera Ejuke and Aaron Samuel.
Although the transfer fee paid to the Eliteserien club was not disclosed by Chelsea, Aneke has exclaimed with pride that it is the most expensive outbound transfer in Norwegian football history.
It is understood that Molde will receive 12 million euros from the sale of Fofana, surpassing the 9.5 million euros fee Bodo/Glimt received for the transfer of Erik Botheim to Russian Premier League club Krasnodar.
Aneke also confirmed that his client, Patrick Berg smashed the transfer record for an inbound transfer following the midfielder's move from Lens to Bodo/Glimt in exchange for 4.5 million euros.
"In August 2022 we smashed the transfer record for an incoming Eliteserien signing. Now we smash it again for a transfer record out of Norway when Datro David Fofana has been sold from Molde to Chelsea," Aneke stated.
"The Chelsea project is about identifying the best, and most talented young players in the World in order to develop them and bring trophies home to Stamford Bridge and Elephants striker has been selected."
Aneke underlined that Fofana deserved his move to Chelsea, and used the opportunity to thank everyone that contributed to the successful transfer of the Ivorian.
"Hard work, dedication and talent has brought you here. But behind every player there is a story, and behind every player there are many people who are working hard and has sacrificed a lot to help you get to where you are.
"We thank everyone at PMG for their hard work, Molde for their development and a warm congratulations to the Fofana family.
"We look forward to a great future together with you and Chelsea Football Club. Always believe in your dream," Aneke concluded.
