Super Eagles striker left out of Lorient squad v Bastia amid West Ham, OGC Nice, Lyon links
Published: January 20, 2023
Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi will not make his nineteenth appearance of the season in all competitions when Lorient take on Bastia in a Coupe de France clash against Bastia at the Stade Armand-Césari (Furiani) on Saturday evening.
Lorient manager Régis Le Bris has announced his traveling squad to Bastia and there is no place for the Nigeria international attacker, who was absent from training on the eve of the match.
According to L'Equipe, it has been suggested that Moffi's omission from the roster is down to illness and not related to speculation linking him with a departure from Lorient in the January transfer window.
The 23-year-old has been linked with Premier League side West Ham United but allnigeriasoccer.com has been told the deal is unlikely to happen.
OGC Nice are pushing hard to sign Moffi and made a third offer with a total package of 20 million euros (including three million euros in performance-related add-ons).
Olympique Lyonnais are also in the picture to acquire Moffi in this transfer window in a swap deal that could see Romain Faivre head in the opposite direction.
Moffi has twelve goals to his name this season - a tally bettered only by Paris Saint Germain superstar Kylian Mbappé in the Ligue 1.
