Confirmed : Chelsea announce Nigeria-eligible winger has signed seven-and-a-half-year deal
Published: January 21, 2023
With a statement on their official website, English Premier League giants Chelsea have announced that Nigeria-eligible player Nonso Madueke has joined the club on a permanent deal from Dutch Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven.
Madueke has put pen to paper on a seven-and-a-half-year deal, with The Blues holding the option to extend his stay by a further year.
A left-footed inverted winger, the England U21 star of Nigerian descent is the fourth attack-minded player acquired by Chelsea in the January transfer window, following in the footsteps of David Datro Fofana, João Félix and Mykhaylo Mudryk who arrived the Londoners from Molde, Atlético Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk respectively.
Speaking after finalizing his switch to Chelsea, Madueke told the club's official webpage : "I’m really pleased to sign with one of the best clubs in the world in Chelsea.
"To return to England and play in the Premier League is a dream for me and my family and I can’t wait to get started.
"I am excited for what the future holds, the owner's vision for the future and to be at a club like this and winning at the highest level."
Madueke won the KNVB Cup and the Johan Cruijff Shield during his time with PSV Eindhoven, for whom he made 80 appearances and directly participated in an impressive 34 goals (20 goals, 14 assists).
The 20-year-old captained Tottenham Hotspur U16 team before his move to PSV in 2018.
