Nigeria-eligible striker battles Kai Havertz, 4 others for Chelsea Goal of the Month
Published: January 30, 2023
Exciting Nigeria-eligible striker Louis Flower has been nominated for Chelsea's Goal of the Month award for January 2023.
Flower's stunning goal in Chelsea's 7-1 annihilation of Norwich City in an U18 Premier League fixture on January 14 has earned him a nomination and he's up against five other players for the monthly accolade.
Also up for the Goal of the Month award are Kai Havertz, Women's duo Sam Kerr (2) and Fran Kirby, academy players Charlie Webster and Dion Rankine.
Just past the hour mark against the Canaries, Flower netted his second of the game when he produced an acrobatic bicycle kick to smash in the rebound after Frankie Runham’s initial effort had been saved.
The Anglo-Nigerian attacker has been in fine form of late in the U18 Premier League, scoring in three consecutive matches in the division against Aston Villa, Norwich City and Tottenham Hotspur.
Flower's other goal this season was against Dinamo Zagreb on matchday six of the UEFA Youth League.
The Cambridge native signed his first professional contract at Chelsea in October 2021.
