Not for sale : Manchester United, Chelsea suffer blow in pursuit of Super Eagles striker
Published: February 08, 2023Premier League duo Manchester United and Chelsea have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Victor Osimhen, with Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis revealing that the Nigeria international is not for sale.
Chelsea have identified Osimhen as the ideal striker to replace the aging Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Manchester United want him on a permanent basis to fill the void created by the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Aurelio de Laurentiis admitted that Osimhen is being targeted by several clubs ahead of the summer but claimed that Napoli won't be desperate to sell any of their star players because they are in good financial standing.
De Laurentiis' statements would suggest that Napoli intend to keep the Nigerian next season unless they receive a bid too good to refuse.
Osimhen will enter that last two years of his contract at Napoli at the end of the season and he is valued in the region of 120 million euros by The Parthenopeans.
Speaking to Sport Bild on the future of Osimhen, De Laurentiis stated : "I can tell you that Osimhen is not for sale.
"Our players are in demand, but I don't have to sell anyone. We don't have any debts".
Since his arrival at Napoli from Lille in 2020, Osimhen has mustered an impressive 45 goals in 83 appearances for the Naples outfit.
