Iheanacho shines with goal and assist in Leicester's win v Tottenham, Ndidi returns
Published: February 11, 2023
Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho was on target and also assisted as Leicester City romped to a 4-1 win against a hapless Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday at the King Power Stadium.
It was the second game in a row the former Manchester City man has been involved in at least two goals, having bagged two assists and a goal at Aston Villa last weekend.
Tottenham went ahead when a poor clearance led to Rodrigo Bentancur tapping home from close range to hand Spurs the advantage in the 14th minute.
Nampalys Mendy got Leicester City back on level terms with a screamer into the top corner in the 23rd minute and two minutes later, it was 2-1 as James Maddison finished past the keeper after Iheanacho unselfishly squared the ball for him.
Before half-time, Iheanacho made it 3-1 following some sloppy piece of defending by Tottenham.
The Nigeria international guided the ball into the bottom corner, assisted by Harry Souttar, four minutes into stoppage time.
Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi made his return from injury, coming off the bench in the 69th minute of the game to shore up the midfield and defensive lines.
Harvey Barnes wrapped up the scoring when he placed the ball into the corner with nine minutes left on the clock.
