Southampton loanee Tella named in EFL TOTW after hat-trick for Burnley
Published: February 13, 2023
Southampton-owned winger Nathan Tella has been named in the English Football League Team of the Week on the back of his outstanding display for Burnley in their 3-0 rout of Preston North End in a Championship clash at Turf Moor on Saturday, February 11.
The former Arsenal schoolboy netted his first hat-trick as a professional as Vincent Kompany's side made it ten wins on the bounce in the division.
Tella got his first in the 15th minute with a header on the near post after a great ball in from Josh Brownhill and the in-form Burnley number 23 doubled the advantage with an unstoppable shot from just outside the box nine minutes into the second half.
The 23-year-old wrapped up the scoring three minutes later when he slotted through the legs of the Preston North End goalkeeper, Freddie Woodman.
Tella has been deployed on the right side of a four-man midfield in the EFL Team of the Week.
He registered three shots against Preston North End with all of them ending up in the back of the net, completed a game-high four dribbles and won one foul for the Clarets, while completing 70.4 percent of his passes.
Looking at his defensive stats, he made one tackle and one interception in 73 minutes of action.
