Lorient sweating over the fitness of Super Eagles midfielder ahead of Auxerre match
Published: February 22, 2023Lorient manager Régis Le Bris is sweating over the fitness of Nigeria international Innocent Bonke ahead of his side's Ligue 1 meeting with AJ Auxerre on Sunday, February 26.
According to Ouest France, Bonke partially trained with his Lorient teammates on Tuesday afternoon. the first half of the session with his teammates, the second with a physical trainer.
The 27-year-old has not figured for Lorient in their last three matches in the topflight as he was a non-playing substitute against Angers SCO, before missing back-to-back matches with Nantes and Ajaccio.
Bonke is recovering from a heel injury, which puts his participation against Auxerre in doubt.
Of the 27 matches contested by Lorient in all competitions this season, the number 8 has started eleven and was was substituted in on nine occasions.
Lorient now have only one Super Eagles player in their ranks following the departure of Terem Moffi to Ligue 1 rivals OGC Nice in the winter transfer market.
The Merlucciidaes sit seventh in the standings with 39 points, four behind the European places.
