2015 U20 AFCON winner cracks MLS Team of the Matchday after first goal for FC Cincinnati

2015 Africa U20 Cup of Nations-winning midfielder Obinna Nwobodo has been named in Major League Soccer's Team of the Matchday after his outstanding display in FC Cincinnati's season opener against Houston Dynamo at the TQL Stadium.
The former Nigeria underage international cracked the Team of the Matchday after inspiring FC Cincinnati to a 2-1 win over Houston Dynamo - their first win on the opening day of a Major League Soccer season.
Nwobodo was involved in the build-up to FC Cincinnati's opening goal in the nineteenth minute when he found Álvaro Barreal, who teed up Sergio Santos and the number 11 slotted in at the near post.
Two minutes into the second half, the Nigerian restored FC Cincinnati's one-goal advantage with a deflected effort which ended up in the back of the net.
It was his first-ever goal for Cincinnati and it came in his 28th appearance for the club across all competitions.
This is the second time in Nwobodo's MLS career that he has been named in the best XI players, and the first was in Week 15 in the 2022 campaign.
The 26-year-old finished with a game-high 11 possessions won, registered 17 duels and 3 interceptions.
