Kevin Akpoguma has been named to Whoscored.com's German Bundesliga Team of the Week for his performance in TSG Hoffenheim's 3-1 win over Hertha Berlin at the weekend.
The Super Eagles central defender was on the brink of helping goalkeeper Oliver Baumann keep a clean sheet, but former Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic had other ideas as he netted a consolation for the visitors two minutes into stoppage time.
The Team of the Week is dominated by Borussia Dortmund who have contributed half of the outfield players, namely Donyell Malen, Raphaël Guerreiro, Jude Bellingham, Marco Reus and Sébastien Haller.
In a 4-4-2 formation, Akpoguma is partnered in central defence by former Arsenal star Konstantinos Mavropanos, who shone for
VfB Stuttgart in a 1-0 loss to Wolfsburg.
Akpoguma won five aerial duels against Hertha Berlin, was accurate in 74.3 percent of his passes, while making 55 touches.
Akpoguma registered an impressive ten tackles, made two clearances and one block over the course of ninety minutes.
In recent games, Akpoguma has been a key member of TSG Hoffenheim's backline, having started five of their last six games before the international break.
