Red-hot midfielder Oyedele returns to Man Utd youth team matchday squad
Published: April 21, 2023Poland U19 international of Nigerian descent Maxi Oyedele has received a call-up for a Manchester United youth team game for the first time since January 14, 2023.
The talented central midfielder has been named in the matchday squad for the Red Devils' Premier League 2 clash against Brighton & Hove this evening and it remains to be seen whether or not he'll be given minutes off the bench.
In the January transfer window, Oyedele joined National League club Altrincham FC until the end of the 2022-2023 season as part of an innovative loan scheme designed by United’s Academy coaches.
As part of the loan agreement, he will continue to train with Manchester United's U18 and U21 teams while benefiting from the experience and challenges of non-league football.
The Anglo-Polish-Nigerian starlet has been in brilliant form for the Robins in the fifth tier of English football, scoring four goals in twelve appearances in the division, including strikes in recent back-to-back away games at Oldham Athletic and Dorking Wanderers,
Oyedele's brilliant volley against Oldham Athletic on April 7 is in the running for Altrincham's Goal of the Season accolade and he has to see off competition from six other players to win the award.
They are Aaron Bennet, Chris Conn-Clarke, Jordan Hulme, Josh Lundstram, Miles Welch-Hayes and Regan Linney.
