Onuachu subbed in as Arsenal rally back to earn draw in 6-goal thriller with Southampton
Published: April 21, 2023Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu was introduced in the 77th minute on Friday night as bottom-placed Southampton held Premier League leaders to an astonishing 3-3 draw at the Emirates.
Southampton went ahead with just 28 seconds of football played through Carlos Jonas Alcaraz who pounced on the goalkeeping error of Aaron Ramsdale as the hosts tried to play our from the back.
The Saints, bottom of the Premier League table, doubled their lead in the 14th minute through Theo Walcott .
The Gunners however got a goal back through Gabriel Martinelli in the 20th minute and were close to restoring parity towards the end of the game when Ben White's header was cleared off the line by Alcarez.
Duje Caleta-Car grabbed Southampton's third goal in the 66th minute.
Mikel Arteta's team however rallied back to score two quickfire goals through Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka in the 88th and 90th minute respectively.
The Premier League tabe toppers were unfortunate not to be awarded a late penalty after Reiss Nelson saw his shot deflected for a corner kick.
Joe Aribo was an unused substitute while Sam Edozie was not in the matchday squad of Southampton.
