Official : EFL's Red Devils confirm Irish-Nigerian LB has returned to Arsenal
Published: May 20, 2023
English Football League club Crawley Town have announced their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2022-2023 season, with key decisions made on the future of four Nigeria-eligible players.
The Red Devils have confirmed that Hale End Academy product Mazeed Ogungbo has returned to his parent club Arsenal following the conclusion of his loan spell.
A Republic of Ireland underage international of Nigerian descent, Ogungbo joined the League Two club on a season-long loan last August in search of first team football.
The left-back featured in 27 games during his loan spell, eighteen of which he started, and scored his first senior goal against Mansfield Town while his other goal involvement, an assist, came against Rochdale.
Ogungbo received two call-ups for Premier League games last season but was a non-playing substitute at Crystal Palace and Southampton.
Meanwhile, Ogungbo's former teammate at Arsenal, Tobi Omole remains contracted to Crawley Town ahead of next season.
Caleb Chukwuemeka, the older brother of Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, is back at his parent club Aston Villa, and Aramide Oteh is still in talks with Crawley Town over extending his stay at the Broadfield Stadium.
