The final day: Iheanacho and Ndidi's Leicester say farewell to the PL despite win v West Ham
Published: May 28, 2023
Super Eagles duo Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi will ply their trade in the Championship next season following Leicester City's relegation from the Premier League unless they secure a move away from the club in the summer.
The Foxes needed to win their encounter against West Ham and hope Everton drop points against Bournemouth going into the final day of the season on Sunday.
They did get a 2-1 victory over the Hammers but still got relegated because Everton secured a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth.
Harvey Barnes side-footed home to give Leicester City a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute with Iheanacho providing the assist, Wout Faes doubled the advantage just past the hour mark, before Pablo Fornals halved the deficit for the Hammers with eleven minutes left.
Dean Smith's side finished the season in 18th position, two points adrift of a place in the Premier League next season.
Iheanacho started the encounter but was substituted in the 77th minute and replaced by Jamie Vardy.
Ndidi couldn't feature as he missed out due to an injury he suffered in Leicester City City's last game against Newcastle United.
Iheanacho finished the season with 5 goals and five assists in 27 games while Ndidi featured 27 times for Leicester City in the Premier League this season.
Ndidi and Iheanacho are under contract with Leicester City until June 30, 2024.
