Official: Eintracht Braunschweig trigger option to extend Super Eagles striker's contract
Published: May 31, 2023
Out-of-favor Super Eagles striker Anthony Ujah will remain a player of German 2.Bundesliga club Eintracht Braunschweig for the 2023-2024 season.
With a statement on their official website, Eintracht Braunschweig have informed that the contract of the Nigerian centre-forward has been automatically extended by a further year until June 30, 2024 due to the confirmed non-relegation.
Ujah arrived at Eintracht Braunschweig on a free transfer in August 2022 and played a key role as the club escaped relegation, scoring ten goals and registering five assists in twenty nine appearances in the second tier.
He also played a game in the DFB Cup, against VfL Wolfsburg in the second round of the competition.
The seven-cap Nigeria international has made 136 appearances in the Bundesliga with thirty goals to his name, and 91 appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga, scoring 34 goals.
Commenting on his new deal, Ujah told the club's official website: "I'm very grateful to Eintracht for giving me the opportunity to enjoy football again. The team welcomed me great from the start and always made me feel accepted.
"You can't buy the love I get from the fans and we also feel very comfortable as a family in Braunschweig.
"I'm really looking forward to playing another year for Eintracht and continuing to do so together with the team to work to achieve our goals."
On his curriculum vitae, Ujah lists FSV Mainz 05, Cologne, Werder Bremen and Union Berlin as the German clubs he has represented in the past, and had spells in Norway and China with Lillestrom and Liaoning FC respectively.
