Snapped: Celtic boss promotes Lawal to first team training ahead of Scottish Cup final
Published: June 01, 2023
Glasgow Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou promoted Republic of Ireland underage international of Nigerian descent, Bosun Lawal to first team training on Thursday, June 1.
The Hoops have stepped up preparations for their last competitive game of the season - the Scottish Cup final against Inverness Caley Thistle at Hampden on Saturday.
According to the gallery of photos published by Celtic on their official website, Lawal was part of the group of players that trained at Lennoxtown.
Impressed by his performances for Celtic B, Postecoglou has invited Lawal to train with the first team several times this season and named him on the roster for the Sydney Cup in Australia, where he was given minutes against Sydney FC in their opening match.
The versatile midfielder has received three call-ups to the first team for Scottish Premiership matches, against Aberdeen, St.Johnstone and Heart of Midlothian, but was a non-playing substitute each time.
His senior debut came in the Scottish Cup, playing the last three minutes of a 5-0 rout of Morton in January 2023.
Celtic are aiming to win a domestic treble by beating Inverness Caley Thistle, having already won the Scottish Premiership and League Cup this season.
