Official: Former Flying Eagles invitee offered new deal by Sheffield Wednesday 

With a statement on their official website, Championship newcomers Sheffield Wednesday have announced their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2022-2023 season.

 

According to EFL rules, clubs must upload their list of retained and released players to an online portal before midnight on the third Saturday in May, but clubs involved in the playoffs are granted an extra four days after their last match. 

 

The Owls sealed promotion to the second tier of English football via the League One playoffs, beating Barnsley 1-0 at the National Stadium in London on Monday, May 29.

 

2019 Flying Eagles invitee Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has been offered a new deal.and it remains to be seen whether he will remain at the club upon the expiry of his contract on June 30, 2023.

 

The central midfielder swapped Manchester City for Sheffield Wednesday in July 2020, and has gone on to make 86 all-competition appearances for the club, scoring six goals and contributing five assists. 

 

Clubs in the EFL, Netherlands, Italy and Turkey are monitoring the situation of Dele-Bashiru. 

 

Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday have exercised an option to retain 2014 Nigeria's Olympic Team invitee Dominic Iorfa, while former Everton youth teamer Dennis Adeniran has been released. 

 

Iorfa has been on the books of Sheffield Wednesday since 2019 and Adeniran spent two years at the Hillsborough Stadium.
