Udinese midfielder believes Udogie will be an important player for Tottenham next season
Published: June 02, 2023
Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardžić has hailed Tottenham-owned defender of Nigeria descent Destiny Udogie for his brilliant performances this season.
The Italian-Nigerian starlet was signed by Tottenham Hotspur from Udinese last summer for £15m and was loaned back to the Italian side to continue his development.
The 20-year-old has had an impressive season at the Bianconeri, starting 30 out of a possible 37 games in the Serie A and came off the bench twice.
The left back has also bagged 7 goal contributions this season with 3 goals and four assists.
Samardžić eulogized Udogie and predicted that he will become a key player for Tottenham Hotspur next season
"Udogie is the best left back in Serie A for me. He can do everything. I think he will be an important player for Tottenham next year.. He is an amazing player," Samardžić said on The Italian Football Podcast, via Get Football News Italy.
The left-back position at Tottenham Hotspur is up for grabs as Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon failed to convince in the just concluded season and with Spurs set to announce a new coach, Udogie can fancy his chances.
Udogie has not been selected in Italy's squad for the 2023 UEFA Nations League Finals, but could be representing his country of birth at the U21 Euro later this month.
