Opinion: Aston Villa should make a move for Leicester City Player of the Season Iheanacho
Published: June 06, 2023
Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho cut a frustrated figure when the final whistle went in Leicester City's last Premier League game on May 28.
The 2015/2016 league champions were relegated to the Championship after a very disappointing season.
The Foxes failed to adequately reinforce the team with quality players last summer and paid for it when the curtain was drawn penultimate weekend.
Already the effects of the team's relegation are being felt as the club's top players are set to be poached by other clubs.
Recently awarded Leicester City's Player of the Season, Iheanacho scored five league goals in 28 matches and three in the FA Cup, and while he is not currently linked to any club, he is expected to join in the exodus.
There are clubs in the Premier League and in Europe that would be in need of Iheanacho's goal threat
The former Manchester City player will be a player likely to be in the market and allnigeriasocer.com has named the club that is a good fit for him.
The club is Aston Villa.
Manager Unai Emery has done a remarkable job at the club and won them a UEFA Conference League qualification.
Villa have in the team striker Ollie Watkins who scored 15 league goals in 37 league appearances in the just concluded Premier League season.
That is a decent return but the club will be in need of an able backup and Iheanacho could be that goalscorer albeit with more games for him to play of course.
