Confirmed: The seventeen Nigeria-eligible players released by 2022-2023 PL clubs
Published: June 17, 2023English Premier League clubs from the 2022-2023 season have submitted the list of players they will be releasing from their squads, with seventeen players eligible to represent the Nigeria national teams leaving their clubs this summer.
Josh Popoola, 19, has been released by Bournemouth, a year after he signed a pro deal with the Cherries following a successful trial.
2023 Flying Eagles invitee Joel Ideho and central defender Zach Awe will depart Arsenal upon the expiry of their contracts on June 30 without making their senior debuts for the north London club.
Derrick Abu, Bryan Fiabema and 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee Prince Adegoke will be moving on to pastures new following their release by Chelsea, while Ruben Shakpoke, son of retired Nigeria international Jero Shakpoke, is leaving Aston Villa.
Former Chelsea schoolboy Kelechi Chibueze and striker Josh Eppiah have been released by Leicester City, while David Omilabu and Bulgaria U21 international Sylvester Jasper have not been retained by Crystal Palace and Fulham respectively.
Young stars Oludare Olufunwa, Zuriel Otseh-Taiwo, Michael Agboola and Osakpolor Solomon will be hoping to continue their development elsewhere following their release by Liverpool, Southampton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest respectively.
Irish-Nigerian strikers Mipo Odubeko and Armstrong Okoflex have come to the end of their terms with West Ham United.
