Iwobi's stock rises: Players' Player of the Season is Everton's second most valuable player
Published: June 21, 2023Football statistics and transfer news website Transfermarkt updated the market values of players in the English Premier League on Tuesday, June 20.
Alex Iwobi has seen an increase in his market value after a spectacular season with Everton, albeit on a personal level.
The versatile playmaker collected the Players' Player of the Season prize at Everton Men's End of Season Awards after playing a crucial role to help the Toffees escape relegation on the final day of the 2022-2023 season.
He also impressed as Nigeria qualified for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and is the only player to go the distance in all the matches played by the national team in 2022-2023.
The Nigeria international is now rated at 28 million euros, his highest valuation since September 12, 2019, shortly after he joined Everton for what was then a record transfer fee (£35m) paid for a player of Nigerian descent.
Iwobi is the second most valuable player in the Everton squad behind Amadou Onana who is rated at €45m.
When it comes to Nigerian players, the Hale End Academy graduate is the third most expensive player behind international teammates Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman who are valued at €120m and €30m respectively.
Iwobi has approximately one year left on his contract at Everton, whom he joined from boyhood club Arsenal.
