Cremonese chief provides update on Rangers pursuit of Cyriel Dessers
Published: June 29, 2023Cremonese Sporting Director Simone Giacchetta has revealed that the club is awaiting a new proposal from Glasgow Rangers for Super Eagles forward Cyriel Dessers.
Rangers are interested in the services of Dessers and have tabled an initial bid to Cremonese which has been rejected having failed to meet their valuation of the striker.
The Light Blues need to bolster their attacking department ahead of the new season and their manager, Michael Beale is an admirer of the former Eredivisie top scorer.
Simone Giacchetta while speaking in an interview confirmed that the discussion between the the Grigiorossi and Scottish outfit regarding the transfer of the Nigerian forward is at a standstill and they are expecting a new offer.
"There is a negotiation with Rangers underway. But at the moment everything is still because we are waiting for them to formulate the new proposal," he told SportItalia
Rangers scored 93 goals in the Scottish Premiership last season which is 21 fewer than champions Celtic who scored 114 goals and the addition of the former Eredivisie striker could improve their fortune in front of goal.
Michael Beale's side have Italian side Torino to contend with for the signature of Dessers.
The former Genk forward bagged 7 goals in all competitions last season for Cremonese.
